Oral history interview with Ruth Jacobs Levy, July 19, 1986.

Levy describes her Jewish education in New York City and her efforts years later to provide a good Jewish education for her children in Seattle. She discusses her efforts to found a Seattle board of Jewish education to assess and improve the performance of Jewish religious schools in Seattle. Levy attempted to carry out this work under the auspices of the Seattle Federated Jewish Fund. She talks about her mother, Rose Jacobs, and her involvement in the founding of Hadassah. She names many famous Zionists who were friends of the family, including Henrietta Szold, Menachim Mendel Ussishkin, Pinchas Rutenberg, Emanuel Neumann, and Alexander Dushkin. She also tells how her family were founding members of the Society for the Advancement of Judaism, where Mordecai Kaplan was rabbi.
